“Researchers are analyzing DNA samples from more than 1,500 Southern Hemisphere humpback whales to understand their population dynamics better. Researchers collected skin samples from 14 sampling sites from the southwestern and southeastern Atlantic Ocean, and the southwestern and northern Indian Oceans. More knowledge about these populations and how they are connected could help inform management decisions.”
